“The valley was named after the blue irises that thrived in it, lining the cliffsides and blooming along the riverbanks. But they were not the flowers Tommy was in search for.
‘Found you,’ he said, making his way over to the flowers clustered under a rock, almost indistinguishable from their blue-iris neighbors, if it weren’t for the golden center that earned them their name.
When Tommy strolled back into camp, he had a fistful of morning glories clutched in his hand and a grin on his face. ”
“With one swing, George buried the point of his sword deep into the ground beside the stag’s head. And from the sword grew the flowers.
Blue petals unfurled over the stag, growing under and then over its still body until it was buried in morning glories.”
“The sun was setting over the Blue Valley.”
